Anton Treuer (1969-) is the author of 14 books and currently serves as the Executive Director of the American Indian Resource Center at Bemidji State University. Anton and his brother David are sons of Holocaust survivor and author Robert Treuer. Their mother was Ojibwe. Anton Treuer received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and his works about Native Americans in Minnesota have received numerous accolades. Treuer is also the editor of the Oshkaabewis Native Journal, which is the only academic journal published in the Ojibwe language.
Treuer’s frank yet thoughtful writing style reveals his passion for and knowledge of Native Americans. His books are informative and easy-to-understand, which makes them important resources for those interested in learning more about Native Americans. Some of his written works include The Assassination of Hole in the Day, Ojibwe in Minnesota, and Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask.
