Judy Delton (May 6, 1931-December 31, 2001) lived in her hometown of St. Paul for most of her life. Her family were strict Catholics, which informed her writing. In 1950, she attended the School of Association Arts, and from 1954-1957, Delton attended the College of St. Catherine, where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught in St. Paul elementary schools and conducted writing classes inside her house until she started a family.

Though Delton did not start writing until she was in her thirties, she published over one hundred children’s books in her lifetime and helped support her family through the money she made publishing books. Her books dealt with childhood questions in easy-to-understand ways and entertaining. Two of Delton’s most successful series were her Kitty series and Pee Wee Scouts series, though she published others as well. She also wrote a handbook for writing: The 29 Most Common Writing Mistakes and How to Avoid Them.
