Lin Enger (?-?) grew up near Osakis, Minnesota, and has spent most of his life in the state. He attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and received his MFA from their program while working as a Teaching-Writing Fellow. Now, Enger teaches English at Minnesota State University in Moorhead. Enger has won numerous awards for his writing, including a James Michener Fellowship, a Jerome travel grant, a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship, and a Lake Regions Art Fellowship
In the 1990s, Enger and his brother Leif—also an author—co-wrote a mystery series for Pocket Books. In addition to these books, Enger has published two novels. Undiscovered Country, published in 2008, is a modern Shakespearean retelling based on Hamlet. It follows about a boy whose father is shot in the Minnesota winter. The High Divide, published in 2014, is based on Homer’s Odyssey, and also takes place partially in Minnesota. Enger is also a short story writer, and his stories have been published in journals such as Glimmer Train, Ascent, Great River Review, and American Fiction.
