Lois McMaster Bujold (November 2, 1949-) love for books and writing began with horse stories as a child, but she soon moved on to science fiction novels that her father gave to her. In junior high, she began writing as a hobby and eventually turned to writing to support her two children. Though Bujold attended Ohio State University, she did not graduate. Instead, she utilized the library at the University, and educated herself on writing through reading. She moved with her family to Minneapolis in 1995.

Bujold’s first three novels, Shards of Honor, The Warrior’s Apprentice, and Ethan of Athos, were all published in 1986 after her first story was published in Twilight Zone Magazine in 1985. She has since written many more speculative fiction novels including The Curse of Chalion, Paladin of Souls, and the Minnesota Book Award winning Komarr: A Miles Vorkosigan Adventure. She has also won several Hugo Awards and several Nebula Awards for her writing.
