Lorna Landvik

Lorna Landvik (December 12, 1954-) grew up in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. As a child, she was an ardent fan of Maud Hart Lovelace’s Betsy-Tacy series, believing herself to be a kind of Betsy: mischievous and writerly. Though Landvik did not graduate college, she has held many interesting jobs including as a maid in Bavaria, a waitress, and a temp in the Playboy Mansion.

Many of Landvik’s novels are set in Minnesota. They often feature family dynamics and grief, told in Landvik’s humorous and warm style. She has written twelve novels and puts on an improvised comedy show in Minneapolis once a year. Her books Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons, Patty Jane’s House of Curl, and historical novel Oh My Stars have landed on the bestseller list. Other novels include The Tall Pine Polka, Mayor of the Universe, and Chronicles of a Radical Hag.
