Will Weaver (1950-) is a novelist from Park Rapids, Minnesota. He was raised on a dairy farm and enjoyed sports and fishing as a child. He gained an interest in literature because of his English teachers at school and went on to earn a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. in Creative Writing from Stanford University. He taught at Bemidji State University but now focuses on writing, travelling, and public speaking.

Weaver’s novels and short stories have received national attention, partly through their screen adaptations. Weaver’s story “Sweet Land” from his collection A Gravestone Made of Wheat & Other Stories, was released as a movie in 2006, and Sweet Land: The Musical debuted at Saint Paul’s History Theater in 2017. Weaver’s debut novel Red Earth, White Earth was made into a television movie in 1989. His works share a focus on Minnesota farms and farming and are notable for their candid tone and realism.
